As typical of with Google’s record they’re now thinking about using AI (artificial intelligence) to be used in a baby monitor. This new baby monitor is suppose to notify parents when the baby is about to wake up. Yes you read that correctly. It is not notifying you that your baby is awake and crying, but actually warn you up to 10 minutes before the baby is actually awake.

The monitor would take the baby’s behaviors and compare it to what would be considered normal patterns consisting of things such as eye-tracking, baby’s position, and baby movement to determine when the baby is about to wake.

The patent they filed also talks about how this is better than traditional monitors as waiting for baby cries to alert parents may be too late or never happen as a baby could be choking, tangled in bedding, or in other dangerous positions which wouldn’t allow the baby to cry, but still show signs of distress.

Sounds a bit science fiction doesn’t it? So far it’s only a patent, so no release dates or even actual product yet, but if there’s one company that can do it, it’s Google.
